Ladies and Gentlemen, it has been a chaotic week; from the most recent election results to firefighters fighting off a huge blaze in Southern California to beloved ESPN game-day crashing dog “Ben” dying tragically from cancer the other night. Yes, I know, RIP Ben. But nothing seems to encapsulate this crazy week better than over 40 monkeys escaping a research facility in South Carolina, and you did hear me right. On November 7, 43 medically bred monkeys made a run for it and escaped a research facility in Yemassee. Local police sent out a warning to all South Carolina residents to be on the lookout for these “potentially harmful” creatures. According to local officials, “25 monkeys have been recaptured” and are in good health. But that means there are still 18 cute baby monkeys roaming the trees of South Carolina. Anyone who spots said monkeys should contact local authorities as these animals can be perceived as “skittish”. Although this situation is serious at heart, some of the online reactions are pretty funny. For example, a user on X formerly known as Twitter reportedly commented “We literally got Planet of the Apes IRL before GTA 6”. And let me just say- SHAME ON YOU Rockstar Games. This user is right. Do you know how long we have been waiting for GTA 6? How do we get a literal monkey attack before the 6th addition to an already-created video game? It’s not that hard! Do what every other video game franchise does and change the name and say it’s a totally different game; Yes, I am talking about you NBA 2k (fix your game for the love of God). But, we are also seeing absurd opinions like anonymous user 4560 who commented “We all know what they mean when they say ‘research facility’ and we all know what kinky stuff they do to these monkeys in there, right?”. Alright, let me be the first person to say NO anonymous user 4560, we do not all know what they do to those monkeys, but you are a very sick and dirty individual and we will leave it at that. Overall this monkey escape has been the cherry on top of such an interesting week, and if there is any takeaway it is please report any long-lost Planet of the Ape Monkeys, and for the love of god do not let anonymous user 4560 anywhere near Yemassee SC!
