Cross Country Senior Night!
This past Wednesday night on Halloween Eve, the AMHS cross country team had their senior night at the Region Meet! Located at the beautiful Middleburg Plantation in Huger, SC the AMHS team dominated the meet. The boy’s team came first overall, with the girls coming in a close second. Magnet had many runners both girls and boys, in the top tens of both of their respective races. On the girl’s team, runners Evie, Rhythm, and Senior Cate Arrants all came in the top ten. While on the boy’s team senior runners, Quinn Swanton, Everett Landrith, Peyton Johnson, and Hunter Kuhnell all came in the top ten. With Quinn Swanton placing first overall! Way to go Quinn!! The seniors on the girl’s team were Lindsey Griffin, Molly George, Cate Arrants, Laurel Dorsey, Isla Todd, and Ridgley Kahil. While the boy’s seniors were, Quinn Swanton, Hunter Kuhnell, Everett Landrith, Peyton Johnson, Reece Early, and Calvin Volkman. When asked about this cross-country season, the seniors had a lot to say about their final region meet and the season in general.
Senior Reece Early said that his favorite part of the region meet was, “..the course! It was on a beautiful plantation and I also liked the picture we got of the seniors.” He also said that what he’ll miss most about cross country is, “… probably the meets. They’re pretty fun even though it kind of sucks while you’re running them, its fun to watch your teammates and cheer them on.” Seniors Hunter Kuhnell and Peyton Johnson also had some great insight to the cross-country team spirit. Both agreed the thing that they’ll miss the most about cross country at AMHS is “..the team! Also, all the fun stuff we do with our teams in practice.” Hunter also had an important message to pass on to the team’s Juniors about carrying on team traditions, “Brayden better continue Gordon.” Not really sure what that means! Senior Everett Landrith also agreed that a highlight of his season was the great team, saying, “… a highlight of the season was just having a great group of guys and growing close with them through the runs and hanging out.” Everett also said that a highlight of his senior night was, “placing third and running a 16:30 was pretty cool, and it was cool to be in the top three finishers at regionals.”
Lindsey Griffin, one of the team captains on the Girl’s team had some other insight to give on the night. She said that her favorite part of the night was, “seeing the amazing posters that our great team made for us.” Lindsey also said that the highlight of her season was the warm-up conversations with the team, as well as the questions of the day. I would also agree that this was a highlight of my season too! One of the team captains, Cate Arrants also said that her favorite thing about the senior night region meet was how beautiful it was. She also added that, “It was so beautiful and such a nice place to have the region meet! It was definitely one of my favorites!” Overall the Senior Night was a great celebration of all the hard work these Seniors have put in over the years, way to go Raptors!
