Trevor, I miss you. Don’t get me wrong, I still have plenty of respect for Clemson’s current QB, Cade Klubnik, with excellent field vision and passion for the game. He has done a great job following through when we need him, leading Clemson to their winning record for this season of 5-0 for the conference and 6-1 overall. Of course Cade did not directly follow after Trevor, but D.J Uiagalelei is just no comparison whatsoever. Nevertheless, for both D.J and Cade, it’s hard to stand out in the wake of such a legend.
Our Trevor has been a prodigy since day one. While he didn’t immediately start for the Tigers, it didn’t take Dabo long to see his potential. After only four games into the 2018 season, as a true freshman, Trevor replaced Kelly Bryant, the current starter at the time. Despite Bryant’s arguably very successful season, Trevor proved to be the man for the job. From then on, Trevor remained the starting quarterback for the Clemson Tigers. He proceeded to lead Clemson to an undefeated regular season both his freshman and sophomore years, along with victories over Pittsburgh and Virginia in consecutive years in the ACC Championship games. With a great arm, Trevor had a total of 3,280 passing yards in just his first year. In Clemson’s victory over then No. 1 ranked and undefeated Alabama, he became the second QB in history to win a National Championship as a true freshman. Being a great quarterback is just one of Trevor’s many admirable traits. In addition to his great athletic ability, according to many, he is also known as a very respectful and religious person. Not to mention his success with the ladies. I mean, tell me you don’t get lost in those blue eyes, let alone his luscious golden locks, sponsored by a plethora of hair care products. While Cade and D.J. certainly have their own strengths, the electric energy Trevor brought to the field is hard to replace. Overall, Trevor was such a presence on and off the field. I can confidently say as a true Clemson fan that he is very missed by us all. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and yes, I am referring specifically to the day when Trevor graduated from Clemson University.
Now, Trevor Lawrence plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. While he was the first overall draft pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, this title comes with its cons. Alas, our beloved Trevor, in all his glory, has gone from a reputation of never losing to, well, never winning. Trevor hasn’t accumulated very many victories during his time in Florida despite getting to play with a fellow Clemson teammate and another legend himself, Travis Etienne Jr. While our once star quarterback may not be in his prime anymore, I have much hope for his future. The Trevor we all know and love is not one to give up, and I am confident he will find success in games to come, whether it be at Jacksonville or for another team. Until then, I have no shame staying on the Trevor Lawrence Bandwagon. For Clemson fans and anyone who can appreciate the game of football, Trevor is, and will always be, a legend. Thank you for blessing us with your talent Trevor, and your beautiful hair, may you never cut it.
