Ahhhh- to be young and in love. I remember those days! Going to football games just to see “that girl.”,casually locking eyes as we passed through the halls, watching the sunset as we held hands on my parents’ dock; those were the good old days. Now, it feels like a fever dream, something that happened once but never again. Luckily I interviewed students all around campus so I could re-live the feeling of young love vicariously through them. Surprisingly, people of Magnet have very different tastes:
THE BAD BOY-
The Bad Boy is definitely a fan favorite! There is just something so titillating about a person that doesn’t care for the rules and does what they want; a person that emits confidence no matter the consequences. A student at Magnet claimed that they believe the bad boy is the most attractive because they are “always doing something freaky or nonchalant” which makes sense. There is a reason why the saying “nice guys always finish last” is a thing- bad boys are just too hard to resist. However, if 2000’s Rom Coms have taught us anything it is that the bad boy can not be trusted. Tread carefully AMHS!
The CutiePatootie-
The CutiePatootie is much different than the Bad Boy. They are characterized by their innocence and loving spirit. They usually lack confidence and like to work in the shadows similar to Batman. AMHS students adore the CutiePatooties. Students such as Fritz Browning and James Benetiti are fan favorites as they are seen as “cuddly and fun to sit next to” and “very cool, nice, and funny.” There is something intangible about a nice guy that can not be explained. However, just like Leonard and Penny in The Big Bang Theory, the nice guy is someone who can make their significant other a better overall person.
The Nerd-
Oh, I love me a good nerd. Wearing their big ol’ glasses and carrying around that huge physics textbook, it is just to die for. Yes, they are sweet and innocent, but they also do some scheming behind the scenes. If you have seen Revenge of the Nerds then you know! According to a student, “A tall hot nerd that is so knowledgeable and passionate about certain things drives the boys crazy.”.Being passionate about something is truly attractive! It shows maturity and mental fortitude which is something that should be desired.
The Jock-
The jock is by far the most stereotypical. Usually, the jock is seen with the “pretty girl,” carrying the championship trophy, and making funof innocent people in the hallway. Although we like to pretend, at AMHS there are no jocks in sight. We do, however, have a large variety of athletes which seem to pique the interest of many students. A couple of students in particular seem to fancy the Boys’ Basketball team. “I am a sucker for a tall hooper,” one student said. We all love a tall strong man don’t worry! In fact, in a perfect world, I would be performing at the “final performance” and he originally wouldn’t be there because he has an important game, but right before we start he burst in and says “you are more important”; that would be the dream!
No matter who you are or what interest you have, there is going to be someone for you at AMHS. In my opinion, live it up! You have no clue what will happen in the future but I can tell you this: if you are sitting in your math class thinking about “the one” and daydreaming about asking them out on a sweet little coffee date, do it! As the GOAT (Kevin Durant) once said in the movie Thunderstruck, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Good luck soldiers, and Godspeed!
