Our final new teacher for the school year 24-25 is the one and only Ms. Sellars, who teaches biology. One thing to remember about Ms. Sellars is that her classroom is located in the School of the Arts.
Her first quarter at Magnet has been a busy one, but a good one. One thing she has really enjoyed is the students and getting to know them. Her favorite part of her job is being able to see her students feel confident and successful after something challenging that requires perseverance. “This is a much greater reward in the long run!”
Being a learner herself, Ms. Sellars said that teaching secondary education was the best fit for her. She also loves being around others who share her love of learning, something she enjoyed when she was a camp counselor and when she worked in a lab in college.
One thing that she said didn’t necessarily surprise her, but was a welcome sight, was seeing all of the opportunities available to students to be together outside of school, such as spirit week, clubs, and sports. Another thing she wants her students to know about her is how happy she is to be here and how much she enjoys what she does here whether it is a good day or a bad one. “Even on the harder days, I look for ways to make them better.”
Make sure to find some time to say hi to Magnet’s new biology teacher, Ms. Sellars.
