Grimshaw Opens Vegan Restaurant Gnome Café

Mr. Grimshaw, popular Magnet guitar teacher, and his wife Sara Grimshaw opened up their new restaurant Gnome Café on Wednesday, November 11. The menu features 100% plant-based fare for breakfast and lunch. Popular breakfast items include the hemp sausage biscuit, the cinnamon pancakes, and the cinnamon roll. The Thai salad and veggie burger are sublime for lunch as well! If you’re in a rush, they have a grab-and-go refrigerator full of tasty pre-made snacks. The atmosphere is minimalistic and charming with all white interior and eclectic lighting. The staff is friendly and accommodating and are happy to help you decide what to g(NOM)e on.

Even if you aren’t an herbivore, the vegan dishes Gnome serves might make you reconsider your diet. Senior Hallie Roerden even says, “I could be vegan if I could eat here everyday!” Mr. Grimshaw claims that one of the goals of this restaurant is to provide sustainable, ethical food to vegans and non-vegans alike. Bursting with flavor, the food appeals to anyone with tastebuds. The portobello bacon will send you to hog-heaven; the tofu-scramble is eggcellent. Above all, the food will leave you feeling good in your stomach and in your heart, knowing that your meal was cruelty-free.

The vegan eatery is on the corner of President Street and Cannon Street with their own parking lot right across the street. Come out and support Mr. Grimshaw and enjoy a delectable bite. They are open from 6:30 to 3:30 during the week and 7 to 3 on Saturdays. Several Magnet students have been spotted before school including Betsy Samber, Mary Peyton Brown, Hallie Roerden, Heather Lee, and others. If you’re lucky, you might even spot Mr. Grimshaw himself grabbing his to-go breakfast burrito and latte before work!
