Throughout my 4 years at Magnet, I have gone on many adventures and walks around the halls of the school. Many of these trips consisted of talks between friends. These talks would range from casual conversations to lengthy storytimes. Seeing as some of these stories were more secretive, private locations for said yapping sessions were necessary. Here are my top 5 favorite locations to visit while taking a tour of Magnet’s campus!
The bench under the stairs
-
- This bench is a classic place to visit while wandering around the halls of Magnet. Although out in the open, it is shockingly more secluded than expected. For the most part, the downstairs always feels more abandoned and quieter than the upstairs. If you need to take a breather and step away from other people, this bench is a nice place to visit and sit for a little.
The physics stairs
-
- These stairs are another abandoned area of Magnet. Not many people use this side of the school for transport between classes, and they are even more desolate when you take a leisurely stroll that is definitely not during class time. If you need to have a private conversation with anyone and don’t want to run the risk of someone coming by, these stairs are one of your best bets.Although you may want to keep your voices lower just in case. Stairwells echo after all.
Mr. Cosgrove
-
- If you ever feel the desire for a break and need a lovely conversation, Mr. Cosgrove can sometimes offer you that moment of rest. He always has some interesting story or piece of information to offer. Tracking him down is the biggest struggle though. He is always on the move, but sometimes you may get lucky and he will suddenly spawn around the corner.
The bathroom
-
- The bathroom is always a great place to find a friend in and strike up a conversation. Plus, when you ask to go to the bathroom, you actually follow through with what you said you were going to do. People come in and out of the bathroom and many people don’t pay much attention to the conversations that occur so you’re relatively safe in regards to privacy. The only complication is that the bathroom has a slight echo.
The guidance hallway
-
- This location is a recent discovery that has become my absolute favorite location to simply relax and unwind. Of course, yapping with friends is also safe in this hallway. There’s even coloring books placed out for visitors to use. This is a perfect activity to participate in while you and your friends recap any events. The only people who pass through this area are the counselors and some of the admin, but, for the most part, you are safe from the prying ears and eyes of students. Just always be aware of your surroundings and who is walking nearby.
Honorable Mentions:
I have to give an honorable mention to the senior lounge. Although not every student can experience this fundamental part of Magnet yet, your time will come. When it does come, you will understand that it is a comfortable place to hang out with friends, but maybe not the best to have a more private storytime in. Save that for another location!
If given the opportunity, sitting outside in the courtyard is always a calming experience that gets you out of the building and breathing a bit of fresh air.
