Don’t Forget About Thanksgiving

Every year after Halloween, people turn their attention straight from cobwebs to wreaths, skipping over the beautiful turkey-stuffed holiday in-between. This is a call to arms of the American people to protect one of the greatest holidays we have, the holiday of Thanksgiving. Regardless of Thanksgiving stemming from mistreatment of Native Americans, Thanksgiving is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, American holidays.

Thanksgiving brings family and friends together, joining us all in fall colors, food babies, and the settling in of winter on most of America. Delicious food is one of the key calling cards for the appeal of Thanksgiving, and this year it will be the same delicious food as always. The staples of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, and sweet potatoes with deliciously melted marshmallows draped on top will remain the most convincing reasons to pay attention to Thanksgiving, but it brings so much more than just the taste bud teasers to the literal and figurative table. The incredible Macy’s Day Parade is something for people of all ages to watch, and the afternoon and nighttime football games round out the daily viewing schedule for Americans cradling food babies on the couch after their feast. The added appeal of seeing family members and friends one might not usually see increases the incredible sense of love put out by this wondrous holiday, as people have everything they want with everyone they care for. The changing of the seasons also tends to formally occur around the fourth Thursday of November, producing everyone’s best cardigans, khakis, and sweaters from their closets which help people fashionably battle the mild cold and falling leaves. A true celebration of all of America’s history, Thanksgiving brings together people of all races and religions under the common bond of red, white, and blue along with the maroon, burgundy, and browns of fall. All of these reasons and endless more are proof enough to wait until December to celebrate Christmas, so delete the countdowns on the phones, pause the Christmas jams, and enjoy all that November and Thanksgiving have to offer before we move on so quickly to Christmas and the other winter holidays.

Have a life-changing Thanksgiving everyone.
