Yay, It’s almost summer!! The sky is getting warmer and the UV is starting to rise. If you are similar to me, you may realize that it’s time for a closet upgrade. While I do have a great summer clothing collection, with a change and trends and a want for a new look, it is high time to purchase some new clothing items. Below are some great clothing options for summer and spring.
Concert Outfits:
When it comes to summer one of my favorite activities is to attend concerts! From huge concerts at Credit One to small bands at the Music Hall, concerts are arguably the highlight of many students’ summers. In my opinion, to truly enjoy a concert you need an outfit that is not only comfortable but cool. Also, you need to always be prepared it match the band or singer, because most of the time you will end up buying merch.
This is what I consider the perfect concert outfit if you’re going the more comfortable route. While to many the cowboy boots may look uncomfortable, if you invest in a good pair they will feel like your everyday shoes. Also, the bag I am obsessed with because of its knit structure. This style of cross-body is becoming increasingly popular because of its unique shape and with the many colors offered by the designer.
Necklace: Aritzan Joyeria
Top: In print we trust
Skirt: Pac Sun
Boots: Free Bird
Bag: Marialarosa
Another great outfit for an outdoor and indoor concert, this is perfect for those who want to dress up more, yet be comfortable. The bag has a strap that can be made a cross-body, and these two necklaces are awesome for a stack!! Finally, the skirt is second-hand Love Shack Fancy and the tube top is from the popular brand Abercrombie and is perfect for all summer outfits!

Top: Abercrombie
Skirt: The Real Real
Shoes: Golden Goose
Bag: Revolve
Beach Outfits:
Why live in Charleston if you’re not going to go to the beach every free day this summer? While I usually find myself walking out in a ratty t-shirt I decided this summer to take a more stylish approach. There are tons of brands of bathing suits that will last you a while, but the downside is that they have a heavy price tag. While you may settle and buy shein suits for this summer I could recommend buying 3 nicer bathing suits. All of my higher-end suits I still wear from 6th grade and they look almost as good as new.
Yay! Beach days are many high schoolers’ favorite part of the summer. I think this outfit above is perfect for a casual day at the beach. I personally can’t be in the sun without a pair of sunglasses or a hat so I decided to show some of my favorites. This hat is from the post house a local restaurant in the Old Village (where I work). I wear my hat constantly and love the fit of it. If you are looking for a good new flat-brimmed hat I recommend looking at restaurants, most have some that are unique and funky.

Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Suit: Lspace
Shoes: Rainbows
Shorts: Toms Trunks
Next up is a more dressier beach or boat day outfit, perfect for the farther-away beach getaways or if you just want to look more put-together. I love these shoes because they can be worn with a nicer outfit if needed! Also, I actually own these sunglasses in another color and wear them all of the time, I am obsessed!

Athleisure:
Whether you like to play some summer pickle ball or go on bridge walks a cool comfortable athleisure outfit is needed for Charleston’s hot summer. As you can see below there is one overarching brand posted throughout these slides: Free People Movement. Just imagine yourself looking stylish playing some pickleball while getting a great tan in your free people set.
These sunglasses have been a huge want of mine recently. While they are on the pricier side(around $140) I have heard great things about their polarization, and I love the different colored rims.

I have been dying to get this hat from Futurebirds (a band), but they have been sold out forever. As I mentioned earlier in the article, make sure to check out bands hats because they usually are pretty unique.

Dinner with friends:
Another favorite activity of mine during the summer is getting dinner with my friends and one of the many restaurants throughout Charleston. While you can either wear a shirt and shorts to chomp down on a Caesar salad and sweet potato fries you can also dress up and sip on some oysters at leons! Not only is getting food with your friends delicious but it is also a great way to catch up outside of the school setting. One activity I recommend doing at your dinners is stacking your phones up, to stay “disconnected”.

School outfits:
Summertime at school can be both miserable and great. While you may just want to go home and study for all of your APs and Finals there is an opportunity to have some great outfits. One thing I want to point out in particular that everyone should invest in during the summer is a good pair or two of jean shorts. The ones that I own are from Levi’s and usually last for around 2-3 years. Also recently, I have found myself buying printed graphic tops from smaller stores, I highly recommend checking out interest and finding some sellers and small businesses that create cool or unique shirts!
