It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Part 2 of the 2024 AMHS Matchmaker. For this issue, I have recruited Suzanna to help me vet the matches and make sure they are the most compatible yet. If you can’t find your life partner through the Talon, I don’t know what to tell you. The only possible excuse is that you haven’t filled out the Google Form yet. Don’t worry, you can find it at the end of this form, and we are still accepting responses. If you filled out the form and you haven’t been featured yet, you can be sure that you will be found in next week’s issue, part 3. Keep reading to find your last-minute Semi date.
Logan Burns (11) and Sacha Skaff (11)
Wow, this is the perfect country pair! Apart from their love of lifted trucks, country music, and mountains, they even have a similar dream date! Logan described his ideal date as “fishing wit my shawty,” one of Sacha’s favorite activities, and Sacha described “a date with a big loud truck.” While Logan never specifically stated the need for his truck for their date, I’d assume it would be used for transportation to the boat to go fishing. Also in their boating and car ride they will want to relax at some point and watch a movie or listen to some music! Good thing both of their favorite movies are The Notebook and they both love Dolly Parton and Zach Bryan. I imagine a projector and these two love birds watching the movie in the truck bed after a long day of fishing.

John Thomasson (11) and Chloe Carlsten (12)
Next up we have a great Junior/Senior pair, Chloe and John! Rumor has it that they are going to semi-together, a perfect beginning to this great match. Chloe and John are perfect for each other not only because of their similarities but also their sense of humor! John said that he loved his truck and playing lacrosse and Chloe said she loves to tan at the beach and play soccer. Talk about a sporty pair! John described he wants someone who is strong, and in my opinion, a soccer player is the strongest you can get. Also when describing her perfect date she wrote that she likes to, “go on the boat and swim and eat lunch on the boat,” and John wrote, “We go to the beach.” Both dates include some sort of swimming, how sporty! This pair also both wrote that they love the beach; I can imagine warm days spent with this duo tanning on the beach and then going to watch a funny movie, like Cars. Just look at the things that they want their partner to know: “I am awesome and cool” and “My name is John.” Wow so funny.

Ranitha Kumarasinghe (12) and Erin “Rin” Baylock (12)
This music-loving duo Rin and Ranitha’s names even match! While they may disagree on the topic of Pop Smoke and rap music, the two would have a great mashed Spotify playlist. Rin’s unique love for both “Didn’t Cha Know” and “Trolls Band Together” along with Ranitha’s indie music playlist would create pure delight for this duo. Another activity both like is “weightlifting” in Rin’s words and “getting jacked” in Ranitha’s. I can imagine a perfect day for these two would be hitting the gym in the morning, making a delicious lunch together and having a picnic, and then listening to some music while they go shopping at their favorite stores. Best of luck to these two!

Max Twyman (11) and Keveon Ford (11)
Next up we have two juniors, Max and Keveon. These two mash through their love for music! Instead of having Keveon playing a tune to Max around a fire, they can play a beautiful melody together. I could even foresee Max and Keveon creating a band together, there’s nothing more successful than a couple who makes music together. For their perfect date, Keveon wrote he would want to go bowling, and Max wrote she would want to go to the beach and watch the sunset. They could combine these dates to make the ultimate date day, filled with bowling, beach walking, and watching Pitch Perfect where they practice their guitar skills with the singers!

Connor Sawall (12) and Ava Irwin (12)
Another sporty duo! Ava and Connor are perfect for one another on and off the field. From Ava cheering on Connor during his football games, to creating SoundCloud songs together, these two are a match made in heaven. Conner described his dream date as attending a baseball game and Ava said she would like to go ice skating. I like to think that these two would spend their day going to a baseball game, preferably the Patriots, having a picnic in the park listening to pop music while they read a Jane Austen novel together, and then finally going ice skating at the Carolina Ice Palace. Not only is their date filled with athletic activities, but also relaxing time where the two can get to know each other more. Excited to see how this relationship blossoms.

Hayes De Arellano (9) and and Mercedes Griffin (10)
This duo will find a blossoming relationship not only within the Gamecock football stadium but also in the musical field as well. Hayes said that their favorite song is “Good Lookin’” by Dixon Dallas, a great country music song, and Mercedes wrote that she loved “Ex-Mortis” by Ice Nine Kills. While both different, I believe the two complement one another, just like these two personalities. This duo also proposed very different date ideas, but having that balance creates a more well rounded relationship! For their first date, I picture the two going on a morning horse back ride throughout the country side, then the two would watch Mean Girls and snack on some popcorn. If this majestic day goes well, I would love to send more ideas!

Addie Hanna (12) and Zuriel Nyamutsaka (10)
These rap-lovers are ready to listen to Tupac and munch the day away with Jersey Mikes. Over their sandwiches, they could discuss their shared love of the Dallas Cowboys. Addie loves to go to the beach and hang out with her friends and Zuriel loves driving his 2023 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Therefore, I think some perfect quality time would be Zuriel helping Addie with her commutes with the windows down. If Zuriel gets aux, he will be sure to play “Hit em Up” by Tupac. His celebrity crush is Livvy Dunne, and I can definitely see the resemblance in Addie’s blonde locks and athletic body.

Addie DeFord (9) and Riley Browder (9)
Both from big families, these two are sure to get along. I mean, let’s face it, siblings build character (sorry only children, but learn how to share). If Riley could have any superpower, it would be “knowing everything”, which is perfect because Addie’s would be mind reading. This duo would be an immediate academic weapon. Riley doesn’t have a favorite sports team, so he’d be happy to cheer on Florida State for his beau. He is also flexible with movies, although it’s unclear if “none” means he doesn’t like movies at all or if he doesn’t have a favorite. He does warn that he is 4 foot 11, but who doesn’t love a short king? True love prevails regardless of height. These two go wild for a picnic, although they do disagree on location. Riley hankers for a rolling field “surrounded by nature at its finest,” while Addie craves a beach setting. If the first date goes well, hopefully they can experience both!

Jamison Kubu (9) and Rylie Cox (10)
Our second cross-grade match of this issue, we are sure this couple will be strong enough to overcome the minor age gap. Jamison’s romantic attitude is sure to draw Rylie in, saying his perfect date is “the one with me and you.” I guess that means they will debut on Rylie’s ideal date: going to the fair. However, I am pretty sure the fair only comes to Charleston in November, so they may need to road trip (great couple bonding activity) or pick a different location in the meantime. Instead, perhaps they could binge watch their favorite movies: The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Interstellar, and Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. The diverse genres in this list are sure to keep them entertained if conversation runs dry. Jamison divulges that he is 5’10”, just one inch away from Rylie’s celebrity crush, Finn Wolfhard. Perhaps they could also watch Stranger Things!

Lu Oppelt (11) and Lillian Osbon (11)
These gamers are love at first log-in. Lillian also enjoys playing instruments, so perhaps they could perform one of their favorite songs, “Normal People Things,” by Lovejoy for Lu. Lu listed her favorite song as “microwaving,” and I am unsure whether I am missing out on my new favorite song by an underground artist or if that was a joke. The noise of the microwave does always draw me in to stare at my food as it rotates. Maybe one of Lillian’s instruments can mimic microwave sounds. I wouldn’t know as I am not musical. Lillian would love to get to know Lu over lunch, preferring a casual setting where they can hang out and get to know each other. This is perfect for Lu, who is looking for a partner that she can have fun with anywhere, regardless of location. It’s about the person, not the place! If Lillian could have any superpower, it would be the ability to go back in time, while Lu would like teleportation. Lu stated the reason for this as, “so I could rob a bank.” If anything went wrong with the heist, Lillian’s time turning powers would correct the error. Talk about Bonnie and Clyde.

Hailey Taylor (11) and Cole Fritz (11)
You will not catch this pair watching sports. Thankfully, Hailey does not have a favorite team, because in Cole’s words, “sports are gross.” They both love Fortnite, so I foresee many gaming nights in their future. Hopefully Cole will also get to show Hailey his creative side, as he loves art and to make crafts in his freetime. It seems Cole generally likes to stay in, as his perfect date is a movie. This seems just fine with Hailey, as she says she loves to hang out, do whatever, and relax with her partner. She will probably suggest they watch How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, which just proves she has excellent taste. I love a lazy day! From the living room, the pair can listen to “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan and “Take my Breath” by the Weeknd. This is a relationship that can blossom without getting up off the couch!

Wow. That’s a whole lotta love. Also, whoever took the time to fill out the entire Google Form as Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars, you have a lot of time on your hands. However, I do think that you and Charlie Zaifert would get along. She thought it was funny. Maybe hit her up. Anyone who saw how perfect these matches are and feels like they missed out, fill out the Google Form linked below. Get your match just in time for Valentine’s Day.
