Freshmen and sophomores, this could be you one day. The high school glow-up is a real thing, some may say it’s aging or life changes, but we have indisputable proof that it does happen. While it may be looks, almost always it is personality too. Now we know the awkward teen stage is inevitable, but here’s some proof that you WILL grow out of it. Freshman, do not fret, before long those big shoes you have to fill, will be overflowing. You have to know your Freshman self before you move forward in life, college, and the workforce. Look at all those accomplishments and the wisdom you have acquired throughout the years.
Lukey Sutherland
Suited up for a transformation! From freshman to senior year Lukey has blossomed into who he is now with both his personality and looks. Braces did wonders for those chompers, I mean look at those pearly whites. This looks like a great reason for celebration!
James “JP” Prutting
From formal to casual, what an amazing transformation, James. Looks like you decided to grow those locks out and ditch the bowl cut, but do not worry you still have the same smile. Show those gorgeous teeth every once in a while. We can really see you thriving and hard at work, keep it up!
Ford Martin
Wow, Ford! You have grown into quite the young man, all while keeping that youthful twinkle in your eyes. Doesn’t he just look so much happier now? I mean look at that smile. From a boy to a man, Ford has truly evolved. Slay!
Chloe Carlsten and Sutton Meyer
Chloe and Sutton, wow. Looks like this friendship stood the test of high school and gave you two some pretty amazing transformation pics in the process. Both of you are rocking a new hairstyle this year and we love it! I mean, look at Chloe’s new smile! Keep it up!
Harrison Crites
Yeah, he’s cool. Anyone from the class of 2024 knows the iconic Harrison Crites Tesla Flex, so we just had to give it a feature here. After a buzz-cut late junior year, Harrison is regrowing those luscious red locks back out and they’ve never looked better. And with the addition of two adorable dogs, Harrison, you’re killing it.
Wyatt Mahoney
Same pose and everything! Wow, what a 180 transformation from growing your hair out to dropping the formal attire, you’ve really turned things around. We got some input from Wyatt himself saying how proud he is to have grown past 5’5”, check and check! Congrats.
Addie Hanna and Lauren Faust
An unbeatable duo. From timer pictures to Friday Night Lights, your friendship stayed strong! The shift from the side part to the middle part completely changed Addie’s look, and look at Lauren’s beautiful brace-free teeth. You guys are killing it!
Ava Smoak and Suzanna Carlsten
Look at how these two have blossomed. Freshman year Halloween was definitely one for the books and a memorable moment for the beginning of this four-year friendship. Knowing them personally they have become closer friends as the years have gone by. Suzanna even says “we are like peanut butter and jelly.” We love a good blonde and brunette duo!
Wren Allen
Amazing! You have truly grown up and even added a little dye to your hair, I love it. Your appearance at a Tyler Childers concert shows a true transformation in music taste and looks. Keep it going!
Mary Phares Weathersby
What an amazing transformation! With a major haircut and color shift, Mary Phares is expressing her true self these days. The blue hair brings out your eyes. We cannot deny it, you look great!
Alexa Conlon and Sophia Locasio
Blonde beauties! From freshman to senior year, this duo grew up! And we have to applaud you on the matching outfits in both pics, you guys really know how to dress the part. Get it girls!
Lucas Browder
Cool kid to even cooler kid. Once again we see another student ditching the infamous bowl cut from freshman year, which seems like a trend. Even though you may still see Lucas roaming the halls in the same outfit, the person wearing it is unrecognizable.
Kabir Zaman
Kabir chopped off those luscious locks for a more professional cut, and could not look better. He even told us, “In sophomore year I donated my hair and started exercising, helping me lose almost 30 pounds and improving my self-confidence.” A truly inspiring transformation! Congrats!
Burton McCulley
Dropping the sweatshirt for a dress is a great style shift. A new blue wardrobe truly brings out her blue eyes, but do not fret she still has that same shimmer from Freshman year. Go Burton!
Bowen Gao
Just wow! Losing the mask and the addition of the faded haircut transformed Bowen into a whole new person. If you asked us to point out Bowen 3 years ago we would not even recognize him. What a #glowup
Street Wilson
Street!! You learned how to rock your style and branch out from Academic Magnet merch, I applaud you! Gladly, she has made her way down the bleachers which is life changing all in itself. One more year to go means one more year to flourish… Happy Junior year!
Anna Fox
From an archer to a hiker, they have done it all. It is always good to see someone find what they truly love. You know what they say, once an outdoorswoman, always an outdoorswoman.
Connor Sawall
Improving his picture angle and rocking a mullet. Double whammy! With the surge of mullets these days some people are finding their signature look. The style improvement is also stellar. We love to see a man in uniform.
Nate Markin
Driver’s License during Freshman year?! That is pretty impressive. Nate can even scoot his driver’s seat back a few inches after shooting up like a beanstalk. Along with his hair growing out, Nate lost his braces, and even secured a prom date.
Chloe Trowman
A flamingo to a human!? Talk about a transformation. Just kidding. Chloe has blossomed into who she is now. Look at her glowing, literally! Looks like she even cropped a few people out to show off her stunning face. #valid.
Garrison Gray
Two thumbs up for Junior year. Like we said before, some things never change. He still has the same smile all these years later but, now, just without braces on them. He kept the same fashion sense too! A hoodie with a t-shirt is always a solid choice. I mean, if it’s not broken don’t fix it.
Hank Baer
From blurry to blurrier, it looks like he still uses the same Iphone 6 from the first picture. Some things never change. His hair however underwent a major transformation. Growing it out has seemed to be a popular trend amongst teen boys. Hank even has gotten his braces off since the recent picture was taken. Find him in the halls to see his new(ish) chompers!
Max Peters
One more year to go, one more year to give us a nice smile. Everyone wants to see those beautiful teeth so next time you see a camera, smile bright. Max went against the grain and switched to a shorter cut, and now we can see that gorgeous face! Way to go.
Chase Novak
Once a beach boy, always a beach boy. Chase went against the trend of growing out his hair and decided to impress us with a buzz cut instead. And with the addition of some glasses it looks like he won’t have to squint anymore, I mean look how happy he is now that he can really see!
Jacob Somsky
So unfortunately after trials and tribulations in an attempt to get his freshman year picture we have failed… So here is him now, better luck next year in getting a real feature!
Jack Millet
From Covid to now, Jack has truly flourished. He could not be happier to be done with freshman biology and is onto bigger and better things, like college! Yet another one has fallen victim to the trend of growing his hair out, but we would say it is for the better. Also, bonus Harrison feature!
Gannon Rose
I see some great improvements here, especially that change of posture. Also a name change to “jake” 🤣. We had a whole hair switch as well which is almost always for the betterment of society. Onto the similarities, those shorts. I think I saw him wearing the same pair last week. Some things never change.
Beatty Cummings
A toga then and the same toga four years later. The only difference I see is the plexi-glass, mask, and backpack! With the same haircut and computer it might be hard to see this glow-up from afar, but underneath his braces came off and Beatty blossomed into his senior self. Whether dressed as greek dressing or a trojan, Beatty is always repping his Roman appreciation. Nice!
Clearly, the junior and senior glow up is a real thing, so freshman and sophomores hold out hope because it is your turn next. From haircuts to style transformations, AMHS students have only changed for the better and still have the rest of their lives to improve! For those of you who think you have not had a glow up, we can guarantee that you have, you just might not see it. Magnet has historically had some studs so we are happy to keep up the tradition and to see the new generations. We hope this inspired to work on your own glow up. If you were not included in this article do not fret, we will do a part 2, just send us your glow up pics. Comment below who has had the most drastic transformation!
