Best Music Videos of All Time
Is Beauty and the Beat the best music video of all time? Yes, yes it is.
I love music videos. Unfortunately, music videos aren’t what they used to be. They really peaked in the early 2000s and 2010s and after that they have just gotten worse. Despite this very sad reality, there have been some life changing music videos that everybody needs to watch. So here is a list of some of my favorite music videos of all time
Single Ladies By Beyoncé
This music video is just so iconic I have to include it on the list. The dancing is iconic, the song is iconic, and Beyoncé is the queen, so of course the music video is one of the best ever. There is not much to say that hasn’t already been said about this music video. To quote the amazing historical documentary show on Netflix called Crunk on Earth, “which was more culturally significant: the renaissance or Single Ladies by Beyoncé?” I would definitely argue Single Ladies by Beyoncé is the clear winner in that fight.
Beauty and the Beat by Justin Bieber
This is my favorite music video of all time and it really changed my life. Everything about Beauty and the Beat is amazing. I love how in the beginning it says that the footage was uploaded illegally by an anonymous blogger. Oh no!!!! So mysterious!! But then the whole music video is just him dancing in a water park. I especially like Niki Minaj’s part when she says “but I got to keep my eye out for Selena.” Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner should have listened more to Niki or else maybe they might not be in the position they are right now, just saying🤷♀️. The only thing that annoys me in this music video is that Justin Bieber is wearing pants at a waterpark with sneakers on and dancing in the water. Just put on shorts, it’s not that hard. Beauty and the Beat is also a great Just Dance song as well, highly recommend if you have Just Dance. All in all, best music video of all time.
Gangnam Style
Of course I can not forget Gangnam Style, it took the world by storm. When looking back on this music video it is actually very strange, especially that elevator scene which was very scarring. Yet, it is still a classic. The dance moves are fire and I love the random explosions that happen in the background at random times. Very exciting. Gangnam Style will truly live on as one of the most interesting and iconic music videos ever. Whenever this song comes on you gotta get up and do the dance.
Sissy that Walk by RuPaul
On this list I am looking for uniqueness, nerve, charisma, and talent and Sissy that Walk music video gets a check for each one. The music video was shot during season 6 of RuPauls Drag Race and some of my favorite queens are in this music video such as Bianca Del Rio, so of course this music video is amazing. I also love the random cougar that is lurking in the background with glowing purple eyes. Great editing. This song makes me want to strut a runway and I am also obsessed with RuPauls Drag Race so I got to include a RuPaul song even if her voice is questionable. Now, sashay away!!
Dani California and Can’t Stop by the Red Hot Chili Peppers
Red Hot Chili Peppers have some amazing music videos that are very silly. Dani California and Can’t Stop are definitely my favorite music videos of them. Dani California was so goofy and I like how they dressed up as famous bands throughout the decades. My favorite part is when they dressed up as Kiss and the main singer Anthony had the worlds greatest part ever. Can’t Stop is also a great music video. It reminds me of the Rube Goldberg machine project in freshman year engineering class which was probably the most stressful and angry I have been over a school project. Although Can’t Stop is way more goofy than the Rube Goldberg machine. The closeups are so funny and I love how random it is. If the Red Hot Chili Peppers know how to do one thing, it’s a good closeup. Red Hot Chili Peppers super fan Emerson Rampey commented that “The Red Hot Chili Peppers always seem to act fun in their music videos and act like small children. I want to live that life.” I hope you get to live that Red Hot Chili Peppers lifestyle soon Emerson.
Bye Bye Bye and It’s Gonna Be Me by *NSYNC
I live for *NSYNC music videos, they are so funny. My favorite two are Bye Bye Bye and It’s Gonna Be Me. Bye Bye Bye is like if the Polar Express meets Lab Rats opening with a drizzle of James Bond. My favorite scenes are when they are in this weird box and their dances are in 2x speed. It’s amazing. Especially the two second scene where they are just leaning sideways. It’s Gonna Be Me is also an amazing video. Who hurt them 💔! I love how they fought the doll military to get their girl. They have been through the trenches, literally. I also love when they go into the Barbie dreamhouse and swoon all the Barbie dolls. Classic NSYNC getting all the ladies. In conclusion I love NSYNC music videos, they are all so good.
Any Katy Perry Music Video
Any Katy Perry music video is amazing. She always comes out with the best music videos that have amazing production quality. They are always over the top and crazy and I love them so much. One of my personal favorite music videos of hers is Last Friday Night. I remember that my parents thought that it was inappropriate and I was not allowed to watch it, but of course I had to watch it anyway. Very scandalous of me. Dark Horse, California Gurls, Hot N Cold, and Roar are all amazing music videos that are so iconic. I deem Katy Perry the queen of music videos because they are all so iconic.
Any Taylor Swift Music Video
Another gal who knows how to make a good music video is Taylor Swift. From You Belong With Me to Blank Space, Taylor Swift indisputably creates some amazing music videos with great production quality. My favorite music video of hers is definitely You Belong With Me because I remember watching it as a kid and it really hooked me in to the plot. The scene where she is talking to her crush through the window is so iconic.
I definitely did not include all the best music videos of all time. I did not mention the amazing Lady Gaga music videos or any of the iconic Britney Spears videos that definitely deserve some recognition, but at the same time they are so iconic I don’t even need to mention them because that should just be a given. In conclusion, go watch some music videos.
