As Girl Scout Season is upon us, Girl Scout Cookies become a lunch staple, and everyone has their own go-to cookie, which can be telling about people’s personalities. But before I get into the cookie analysis, in this Girl Scout cookie season, you may have noticed different types of cookies or different names for cookies. The Girl Scouts have two bakeries, Little Brownie Bakeries and ABC Bakeries. This is because “the region of eastern South Carolina recently switched from little brownie bakeries to ABC Bakeries. ABC has different names for things (ex: they call Samoas “Caramel Delites”)! Because of this, there are technically four new cookies to our region because of the switch: Toast-Yays, Lemonades, Caramel Chocolate Chip, and Adventurefuls” says Maya Khaskhely, our resident cookie seller (DM her @maya.khask to place orders for cookies).

Everyone has their favorite cookie, and I think that your favorite cookie can be a sign of your personality. Similar to a palm reading, I will read your favorite Girl Scout Cookie and predict what kind of person you are. So without further ado, here is what I think of you if these are your favorite cookies:

Thin Mints – Of course we have to start with the basic, everyone’s go-to Girl Scout cookie. And for good reason, the classic pairing of chocolate and mint is a nice, neutral cookie. They’re not heavy or rich, and you could easily eat a full sleeve (or two) of these if you’re not careful.

Aesthetics: 5/10. True neutral, nothing special.

Taste: 6/10 raw or 8/10 chilled

What it says about you: If Thin Mints are your favorite Girl Scout Cookie, then you’re probably pretty basic and calm. You’re an old soul who prefers classics and doesn’t mind going with the flow. Overall, you’re definitely a chill person and everyone likes you.

Tagalongs – Less basic than the Thin Mint, Tagalongs are a shortbread cookie with a layer of peanut butter and a coating of chocolate, similar to a Reese’s Cup (sorry peanut allergists).

Aesthetics: 6/10. Though they look similar to Thin Mints, Tagalongs is a cuter name, so it receives one more point than the Thin Mints.

Taste: 8/10. The perfect peanut butter and chocolate ratio with the crunchy cookie in the middle all adds up to an overall good experience.

What it says about you: You’re a middle aged man at heart, but you also have good taste. You’re effortlessly cool and probably the funniest person in the room. You definitely do not have a peanut allergy.

Samoas – These coconut and caramel cookies are either loved or hated – as most coconut desserts are – but they are still the second most popular Girl Scout cookie.

Aesthetics: 7/10. The cute circle design and chocolate drizzle add to the over experience of the cookie. Bonus points because you can put them on your fingers like a ring.

Taste: 5/10. Any coconut desserts are controversial, so we have to give this a 5 as to not upset anyone.

What it says about you: If these are your favorite cookie, I think you’re a wild person and probably a control freak. You are strong in your opinions and don’t take pressure from others. You make the plans in your friend group. Definitely a “my way or the high way” type.

Lemonades – These cookies are the palate cleanser of Girl Scout Cookies. They are a soft shortbread cookie with a lemon design on top.

Aesthetics: 9/10. These cookies are so cute and aesthetically pleasing! The lemon design on top is just the perfect design for this cute cookie.

Taste: 7/10. The lemon icing is the perfect mixture of sweet and tart and it complements the shortbread very well.

What it says about you: You are pretty neutral and very sweet. You are definitely a cottage core type and wear flowy and flowerly clothes

Trefoils – Just shortbread.

Aesthetics: 3/10. Its cute because the Girl Scout logo is printed on the front, but otherwise it’s just plain and crumbly.

Taste: 2/10. Dry. Shortbread

What it says about you: You’re probably a toddler, because only children eat plain shortbread cookies. If you’re not a toddler, then you’re just boring. I think you would pair with the Adventurefuls because they would push you out of your comfort zone, something you otherwise wouldn’t do.

Do-Si-Do – Tagalong’s ugly brother. They’re definitely both related, but Do-Si-Do’s didn’t get the genes to have the perfect chocolate coating that the Tagalong’s do.

Aesthetics: 1/10. Just homogenous and dry-looking. Pretty much looks like a Ritz Cracker.

Taste: 3/10. The main issue with this cookie is the dryness. There’s not enough peanut butter to counter the dry, crumbly cookie. It could be a 4/10 if you have a glass of milk.

What it says about you: Just like this cookie, you’re a dry person. You probably listen to classical music and overcook your cookies whenever you bake. But its not all bad, you are calming to be around. I think you would be good friends with the Samoas, they’re wild and you’re calm – perfect pairing.

Thanks-A-Lot – These cookies are a shortbread cookie with a design on top saying thank you in different languages, but were unfortunately discontinued after the 2020 season. I think I am the only person who remembers these cookies, because no one else seems to.

Aesthetics: 8/10. They have (had) adorable shortbread designs on top, each cookie saying “Thank You” in a different language,  and a thin layer of chocolate on the bottom of the cookie.

Taste: 9/10. The shortbread in this cookie is similar to that in the Lemonades, but the chocolate on the bottom perfectly complements the shortbread.

What it says about you: Since these cookies are my favorite (and I think I’m the only one), having Thanks-A-Lot as your favorite Girl Scout cookie means you are the funniest and coolest person on the planet.

Adventurefuls – A new cookie for 2022, the Adventurefuls are a brownie cookie with caramel on top. In my experience, these cookies were very hard and crunchy (the photos are deceiving)

Aesthetics: 9/10. The caramel drops and chocolate drizzle on top make this cookie very visually appealing.

Taste: 6/10. A lot crunchier than the look and the caramel is not soft but they are still pretty good.

What it says about you: Like the name says, you are adventurous, and you often try new things and change your opinions very often. You probably follow trends and only listen to the Billboard Hot 100. But no hate, because adventurous people add spice to the world, so you’re probably pretty cool too.
