Best Organization Hack

for all the perfectionists out there

Today I decided to share one of my very favorite organization hacks. If you sit behind me in class, you probably see me constantly on this website. I have already converted several of my friends to start using it. It’s name? Trello. I originally started using it because my mom (who schedules out every single second of the day) has her own business with different clients so she plans out how much time she will spend on each one.

Basically, Trello is a website that helps you create color-color lists of your day to day to do lists. Think I am weird all you want but every Monday in first block I make lists for “doing Today, doing Tuesday, doing Wednesday” etc etc. Sounds dumb I know. But it is so satisfying I promise. I also have separate lists for “a problem for another time” and “done”. I think you can pay extra to have even more effects and cool things you can do. But considering I won’t even let myself pay ten dollars a month for Spotify Premium (no matter how much I want to) I certainly will not be paying for my organization boards lol.

I currently have a very busy schedule, trying to balance my time between school, lacrosse, work, friends, and you know…sitting in my bed watching the Originals. All very important things to do. So it really helps me to be able to visualize it and not just keep everything in my head.

Seniors, at this point you (and your work ethic) are probably a lost cause. But if any Juniors are reading this article Trello would genuinely have helped me so much during my struggle that was Junior year.

Also, you can change the background of our entire Trello board, currently mine is a pink sunset:)

I also use a color-coded label for each section of my board. It’s so interesting how once you start associating a certain color with an activity they stay together that way in your head. (I am sure there is a psychology term about that but I took AP psychology a whole year ago soooo.) Now that I have built up so much suspense, if any of you are still reading, I’ll share a picture of my Trello board this week.

This is Evie’s Trello board: (One of the many people I convinced to start using it) You can see she uses hers a little bit differently, as she combines all of the days of the week and has different colors for her labels (gasp). However, the point is the same

This is McCabe’s Trello board: I love McCabe’s background. Looks like she is in the middle of NYC

Considering some of you don’t even write down your homework, you may not appreciate the beauty of Trello. But for my organization centered friends, enjoy.
