NFL Power Rankings Through Week 14
Although there are some frontrunners for this NFL season so far, there is a large group of teams that all are capable of making it far in the playoffs. I’ll be looking at the top 10 teams in the NFL Power Rankings through week 14.
- Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes, per usual, is dominating the NFL this season and has a super strong lineup to go with him. He has consistently puts up big stats and shows no sign of slowing down. He’s a slight favorite to win the season MVP over Aaron Rodgers and he definitely deserves it. Record: 11-1.
- Pittsburgh Steelers: Big Ben, along with a crazy strong defense, has brought the Steelers to be the third most favorite to win the super bowl this year. Although they recently had a rough loss to the Washington Football Team, they have played solid football this season and went undefeated until that game. They will need a great comeback game to beat the Bills next week. Record: 11-1.
- New Orleans Saints: Another super strong team this year is Drew Brees’ Saints. Drew Brees’ injury seemed like it would be their downfall this season, but Taysom Hill has stepped up and actually played well. Their late game play has led them to many close wins over mediocre teams including the Panthers, Falcons, and Bears. Also, besides a pretty decent Tampa Bay team, they have a cupcake division and are for sure favorites to win it. Record: 10-2
- Buffalo Bills: Led by Josh Norman and Tre’Davious White, the Bills have a pretty monster defense this year. They made some moves in the offseason which brought them some depth and younger players. Also, Josh Allen has been playing great but he has to give credit to his wide receiver core with Stefon Diggs, John Brown, and Cole Beasley. Record: 9-3
- Green Bay Packers: My initial pick to challenge the Chiefs this season has not disappointed so far. Aaron Rodgers has played steady throughout and has only a few rough losses under his belt. They are definitely still a contender in the playoffs because of Rodgers’ brilliant play thus far. Record: 9-3.
- Los Angeles Rams: The Rams have definitely bounced back after things were looking bleak when they traded away star halfback Todd Gurley to the Falcons. Jared Goff is finally playing football closer to his pay scale than he had been. Another bright spot on the Rams is RB Cam Akers who has finally gotten comfortable in the backfield. It also cannot go unnoticed that the Rams’ Defense is spectacular this year and has saved them from various offensive problems. Record: 8-4.
- Seattle Seahawks: As most know, the Seahawks are known for their dynamic offense led by Russell Wilson. Wilson has had ridiculous seasons as of late and this year has been especially good for him because of their key wide receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Metcalf caught his stride this year and has strengthened Seattle’s WR core. Their defense, however, is subpar and they are among the worst in the league for pass rush. They do have some standout players including Jamaal Adams and Bobby Wagner which help for their coverage. One thing to note is they are in a neck and neck race with the Rams for the lead in their division, both being 8-4 on the season.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Despite having a weak record this year, they have only lost to top-tier teams besides one bad game to the Bears. The addition of Tom Brady, Antonio Brown, Lesean McCoy, and Rob Gronkowski all help the offense a ton. They are also a heavily underrated defense with stars including Vita Vea, Ndamukong Suh, and Jason Pierre-Paul. They have had some dominating wins which include the Packers, Panthers, and the Raiders. They don’t have much of a chance to win their division with the Saints, but they are projected to be a strong playoff team which might carry them pretty far. Record: 7-5.
- Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens, although they haven’t changed so much this year, have a super dynamic team. Fan-favorite Lamar Jackson is an extremely talented dual-threat quarterback who had an upset in the playoffs the year before when he lost to the Titans in the divisional round. Lamar JacksonThe Ravens also have a great offense which includes a top-tier offensive line, wide receiver marquise lee, tight end Mark Andrews, and running back Mark Ingram. They also have a monster defense in every aspect which includes young players and some stars which include Calais Campbell and Marcus Peters. Record: 6-5.
- Cleveland Browns: The Browns this season is such an interesting team because they have an absolutely killer offense but a pretty subpar defense. Their offense is loaded with star players which include Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Jarvis Landry, and Austin Hooper. Mayfield, through his struggles, has gotten the job done this year and Nick Chubb is stellar. Their defense, however, is terrible. It is filled with young players besides their one strong point which is the defensive line.
