SAVE Honors Officer Snipes

Mary Peyton Brown, Staff Writer

Brought to AMHS by beloved teacher Mr. Weart, the Students Against Violence Everywhere Club (SAVE) has been having a successful first year. Recently, they celebrated our School Resource Officer (SRO), Officer Snipes, in honor of National Law Enforcement Day by gifting him with a Starbucks gift card, a poster, and a container of homemade cookies.

Another gift was the book Twenty Twinkling Stars. This children’s book actually honors the Sandy Hook Elementary School, and each star represents a child that was lost in the tragic shooting. SAVE was chosen as a recipient of the funds from the book, and an opportunity to interview the author and illustrator. The Protector Star in the book represents the teachers that protected the students, a fitting description for Officer Snipes.
