Spanish Honor Society to Host Holiday Jazz Concert

All proceeds benefit the Mengo Foundation

The AMHS Jazz Band will be performing

Do you like jazz, helping children through the Mengo Foundation, and the holidays? Well, lucky for you, the AMHS Spanish National Honor Society is hosting a Holiday Jazz Concert to benefit the Mengo Foundation. The concert is directed more towards parents, but students are of course welcome to come. Read on to learn more about the event, who it is benefiting, and what to expect!

The Concert is Friday, December 7th at 7:00 pm in the Magnet Lecture Hall, and tickets cost $10. All proceeds of the jazz concert will benefit the Mengo Foundation. The Mengo Foundation is located in Mengo, Uganda near the city of Kampala, and the group is dedicated to providing orphaned children with access to healthcare and education. The Mengo Foundation is headed by Wilbur Sempijja. To get a sense of how much your Jazz Concert ticket purchase and attendance can help the Mengo Foundation, it’s important to know that $30 can provide a child with schooling and school supplies for a month, and $80 can provide a child with schooling, school supplies, clothing, and three meals a day. Your purchase of a ticket to the event will be able to greatly impact the lives of these children!

The Magnet Jazz Band will be performing some incredible jazz music, and here are the members that will be at the concert:

Qian Chang Gallo will be playing the guitar and bass guitar, Yosef Chang will be playing the bass guitar and drums, Steven Schlosser will be playing the piano and drums, Mebron Cayabyab will be playing guitar, Alex Huang will be playing the saxophone, James Staubes will be playing the clarinet, Bohan Wang will be playing the tuba, Gage Andrews will be playing the viola, Chloe Putnam will be playing the drums, and Hannah O will be singing. You’ll see me at the talent show and you could see me at the Emmys, the Oscars, the Academy Awards. But remember, when you see me there, it all started at the Spanish Honor Society Jazz Concert.”
