The Raptor football team defeated Garrett 20-19 last Friday, extending their winning streak to six games. The team is now ranked sixth in the state in 2A football after defeating tenth ranked Garrett Tech. Adam Ackerman and Nate Schlosser scored touchdowns in the first half to give the Raptors an early 12-0 lead. Garrett’s Lawrence followed with two touchdowns for the Eagles, making the halftime score all tied up at 12-12. At the start of the third quarter, Mungin scored a touchdown for Garrett to put them ahead 19-12. As the game was coming to a close, Magnet’s quarterback Trey Perry ran for a 38-yard, go-ahead touchdown with 3:51 left in the game. Reece Moore’s pass to Josh Issacks for the two-point conversion helped AMHS take a 20-19 lead. However, there was still time left in the game for Garrett to score. Thankfully, an 80-yard touchdown run was called back due to a holding penalty and Magnet’s Adam Ackerman recovered a fumble with 1:28 left in the game to seal the victory for the Raptors.  Academic Magnet football travels to Whale Branch in Beaufort this week to hopefully extend their winning streak to 7 games.
