Thanksgiving To-Dos
As Thanksgiving Break gets closer and closer, we’re all thinking the same thing. What fun activities should I do in South Carolina? Well if you want to know, read on and discover 9 fun things you can do this break!
- Attend the Holiday Craft Show: If you love crafts and need something to do, go to the Holiday Craft show on James Island, South Carolina. This year is its 39th Anniversary! There will be a variety of crafts including pottery, jewelry, stained glass, knitted items, paintings, wood items, stuffed animals, clothing items, and Christmas decorations. And to make this event even better, they serve food!!
- Holiday Festival of Lights: Visit the annual Festival of Lights on James Island, South Carolina too. Here, you can drive through multitudes of flashing Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music on 102.5. If you want to get out of the car, you can enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate and roast marshmallows. Be sure to check out Santa’s Sweet Shoppe and get some delicious baked goods!
- SC Oyster Festival: If you’re an oyster fan, attend the SC Oyster Festival in Columbia, South Carolina. Singers and bands such as Reggie Sullivan, Big Thunder and Rumblefish, Ashes of Old Ways, and Herbie Jeffcoat Projekt. Steamed oysters are going to be provided by Pearlz Oyster Bar. There will also be other types of food and a variety of arts and crafts available for sale!
- The Nutcracker: If you’re a dance fanatic or just want to see a beautifully performed ballet, go watch The Nutcracker in Columbia, South Carolina and enjoy the show!
- Running of the Turkeys: If you want to exercise before the pounds of food you’re going to eat later, attend the Running of the Turkeys on November 23. This event is a 5k held in York, South Carolina. As you run, you can enjoy the sights of the elegant business districts and Victorian houses. All proceeds go to People Attempting to Help, a charity to provide food to the Western York County.
- South Carolina State Bluegrass Festival: If you have a passion for bluegrass music, attend the South Carolina State Bluegrass Festival. Here, you can enjoy 3 whole days of bluegrass music and excitement!
- Celebrate Thanksgiving: Spend time with your family this holiday while baking turkeys and pecan pie. Enjoy the great food and gain 10 pounds.
- Do Thanksgiving crafts: Decorate your house for Thanksgiving this holiday! Make hand turkeys, feather placemats, orange, red, and brown wreaths, and corn husks dolls!
- Black Friday Shopping: If you’re a risk taker, wake up early, fight the crowds, and go Black Friday shopping where you can get expensive items for really cheap! If you want to, start preparing for Cyber Monday!
- And most of all, give thanks!
