NFL Outlook Article 2
Week 3 is in the books, and many crazy upsets took place this week.
The first game across the big blue sea for the year occurred in London, with the ’home’ team (Jaguars) destroying the Ravens. It seems that the Jags only play great when they have the London crowd behind them. They won with a score of 44-7.
The Eagles put on an impressive display by holding off the Giants’ late comeback attempt with a 61 yard field goal by rookie Jake Elliott as time expired on the clock. Elliott was just added to the team from the practice squad this year, and has a field goal only 3 yards short of the longest in NFL history. The Eagles are now atop the NFC East.
Aaron Rodgers had beaten all NFL teams (besides his own) except the Bengals. He was 0-3 against the Bengals, who have always given him trouble. This week was no different. The Packers were in a 14 point deficit entering the second half, and it took everything they had, with 10 points in the 4th quarter to force overtime. In overtime, Aaron Rodgers continued to be the amazing talent that he is and lead the Packers to victory. Rodgers now has a win over every team, except the Packers. This week they face off against the Bears in the lights of Thursday night prime time.
Tom Brady is not done yet! With just a couple minutes left in the game against the Texans, he led a drive down the length of the field and capped it with a touchdown to take a 3 point lead. He came back from 28-3 in the Super Bowl, and he still has the clutch gene, and makes big plays in big moments. But, it seems that the Texans have found the future of the franchise, Deshaun Watson, who posted 301 yards and two TDs. He is making a statement that he is not just the future of the franchise, but also the present, and he is ready to win.
A stunner in OT!! The Bears defeated the Steelers with a score of 23-17 in overtime. The high powered Steelers offense, with arguably the best wide receiver and running back in the league, with a pro bowl quarterback, was held to only 17 points through 4 quarters and OT. The Bears were projected to only win 2-3 games for the entire year, and they somehow beat the team that went to the AFC championship game last year. The Bears almost had the NFC Champion Falcons beat in the season opener. The Bears could be an interesting team to watch this year, and they may make a more impressive run than most experts think.
