French National Honor Society Gears Up for an Exciting Year

As Academic Magnet gets back into the swing of school, the French National Honor Society is preparing for an exciting and engaging 2017-2018 year. Presidents Eliot Leadem and Michael Pi, Vice Presidents Evelyn Bi and Helena Upshaw, Treasurer Janie O’Shea, and Secretary Mason Leath have a lot planned in terms of fundraising and goals for the members. Crêpe Days are expected to be much more efficient so everyone won’t have to be waiting in those long, pesky lines. By prepping fruit earlier, members will have the opportunity to earn more community service hours for their 10 hour a year requirement.

The first crêpe day sale will be during lunch on Friday, September 22nd in the breezeway towards the cafeteria. Bring $2 for one crêpe or $3 for 2 and indulge in a French tradition covered with Nutella, chocolate chips, peanut butter, and a great selection of fruits.

Additionally, it’s time for AMHS to save the date for the International Dinner, which will be held on Saturday, November 4th. Experience a variety of cultures by tasting food from different countries and meeting families with interesting backgrounds. National French Honor Society members will be volunteering at this event, so you will be able to meet the faces of this enthusiastic club.

Students interested in joining the National French Honor Society must work hard this year in their French 3 level class or higher in order to maintain a 90 or above in the class. Members should be passionate in French culture, strive to support impoverished French speaking children, and spread awareness of the club throughout the school. Eliot and Michael are very excited to meet the new inductees later this year!
