Getting to Know Ms. Spencer
What is your favorite thing about Charleston so far?
My favorite thing to do in Charleston is walking the beautiful beaches. Normally, I go to Sullivan’s Island because it is the closest, but I have a goal of visiting all the beaches here.
What is your favorite country that you have visited?
I would have to say the most magical country I have visited was Nepal. The Himalayas were mesmerizing, and I really appreciated the spiritual attitude of the people.
What is the most interesting thing about you?
I am a coal miner’s granddaughter. My grandparents immigrated from Hungary to West Virginia.
What are your hobbies?
I love going to the theatre, hiking, and reading. Some of my favorite books include Wuthering Heights and The Poisonwood Bible.
What is the weirdest/funniest thing that has ever happened to you?
I have had some really interesting experiences while traveling abroad. One time I went to a restaurant while I was on a Western Desert Trek around Valentine’s Day and the Christmas Carol “Silver Bells” was casually playing on the radio. Another time I bought a bouquet of flowers in Egypt and something spilled on them. A gentleman took the flowers from me and spit on them. He was only trying to clean them off, but it was very surprising.
What were you like in high school?
I was very involved! I was a part of Student Council and I was on the yearbook committee.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
First, I would make sure that my family was taken care of so that they could live comfortably. Second, I would send money to support an animal shelter that I am involved with in Egypt. Third, I would find a forever home.
If you were not the principal what would you be doing?
I would either be an opera singer, become a diplomat, or be a CIA Agent.
If you had any super power what would it be and why?
I would want to have the ability to know when I am being told the truth.
What is your guilty pleasure?
HGTV 🙂
