In 2014, Rademenes was brought to an animal shelter in Poland to be euthanized because of a severe respiratory tract infection. Instead, his doctors decided to give him another chance. The cat recovered quickly and was soon given the nickname “nurse” for taking care of other animals in the rehabilitation centre. It is said that Rademenes walked around the center, hugging, licking and snuggling the other sick or injured animals. The cat-nurse is now a full time employee of the rehabilitation center, and it is said that the animals that Rademenes cares for recoverer significantly faster.
