Congratulations to the National Merit Scholarship Finalists!
In October 2015, over 3.5 million high school students took the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). High School juniors who scored in the top 99th percentile, approximately 16,000 students, qualified to be Semifinalists during their senior year, which looks great on college applications. Last month, 15,000 of the Semifinalists were notified that they were now Finalists. These Finalists will then submit their high school records, teacher recommendations, and a personal essay. Half of the Finalists will receive a $2,500 scholarship and potentially additional scholarships from various universities in the hopes of recruiting these intelligent individuals.
Ten students from Academic Magnet High School were named Semifinalists and all of these students were recently named Finalists:
Christopher Diamond-Hettinger
Thomas Feingold
Olive Gardner
Benjamin Holmes
Martyn Lemon
Charlotte Lucas
Katherine Moseley
Anna Tavormina
William Tonks
Kerri Wong
Congratulations to all of the Finalists and we wish them luck on the upcoming results!
