The Daring Doberman
February 17, 2017
The Svilicic family had adopted a neglected Doberman, Kahn, just 4 days before he came to the rescue of seventeen-month-old Charlotte. Before his adoption by the family, Kahn was starving, neglected and abused- in fact, the family almost put him down due to his condition. In late October 2007, the toddler’s mother had been watching her and the dog play in the garden of their home in Atherton, Australia when she suddenly saw Kahn pick up the toddler by the diaper and throw her behind him and continue to nudge her away when Charlotte’s mother ran out. She then realized the Doberman wasn’t being aggressive towards Charlotte, he had been protecting her from an approaching King Brown snake. After moving the young girl to safety, Kahn was bit; he quickly collapsed and was taken to a nearby vet for an anti-venom shot and recovered quickly. Charlotte’s mother says she is sure the Doberman risked his life to save her daughters.
