A Purrrr-fect Place to Eat
Imagine being greeted by bunches of tiny kittens while enjoying a bite to eat. Come this December, you won’t have to imagine the crazy concept, because Pounce, Charleston’s first cat cafe will open downtown. The creators of Pounce describe a cat cafe as “a place where you can hang out with adoptable felines, sip on your favorite beverage, and snack on a yummy pastry”. While some are hesitant to pay $15 to pet some cats, it may relieve you to know all of the money helps care for the cats and helps them to find furrr-ever homes. The cafe has partnered up with The Charleston Animal Society in an effort to save animals and help sheltered animals find new owners. The cafe is split into two sections: one for the kittens, and the other for foods and beverages. The cafe part of the Pounce will offer a selection of wines through the wine bar, and fresh pastries brought in daily by local bakeries. The cat play area acts similarly to a large foster home, with plenty of room for the cats and kittens to run around uncaged. The separation of food and kittens allows for a clean space to eat, and approved by DHEC. And for all you dog lovers out there, don’t fear! The cafe plans to host events throughout the year where puppies are brought in to play with visitors. This cafe will certainly make a great addition to the variety of eclectic cafes and activities in our city!
The cat cafe will open this month at 283 Meeting Street Charleston, SC 29401
