The Presidential Election Aftermath: Unification is a Must

Carter Shubert and Kevin Woods

The election has come and gone, and Donald Trump has been elected as the President of the United States of America.  It is a sad day today…not because Donald Trump won or Hillary Clinton lost, but that everyone is sulking and living in the past.  It is time to look towards the future of this great nation.  It is time to move on and give Donald Trump all of the support that he needs.  He deserves it and has rightfully earned it.

Every four years 50 million people are upset.  That’s life.  No one is happy when their side loses.  I get it.  Right now we are on the same team: the United States of America.  Enough with saying that you want to impeach Trump before he has even started.  America is about giving people a chance and respecting each other.  Let’s look towards the future and help to turn our country around.

If you are saying, that you want to move to Canada, you are a coward.  You need to be a part of America and help make it the nation that we want it to be.  After reading many Facebook rants, I realized how divided our country is. Posts like “If you voted for Trump, unfriend me,” resonated. We have to face the fact that Donald Trump will be president, and we have to be behind our president. People’s political views are not their ultimate judge of character. Just because someone voted for Trump does not mean they are a bigot. We must look at Donald Trump with an open mind and allow him to run the country efficiently.  Donald Trump wants the best for America, just like you do.  Whether you agree with him or not, he deserves your support.  You do not have to like him, but you cannot change the outcome of the election by complaining about it.  The most important thing that we can do is to come together as one.

People are also saying that they hate others who did not vote for the same candidate as they did.  Do not let politics ruin relationships with other people.  These relationships are what allow our country to move forward.  The ultimate way to examine maturity is the capability to disagree with the viewpoints of other people in a respectful manner.  We cannot let hate overcome us and take hold of us.  Hate has caused millions of problems in the world and it has not gotten us anywhere.  Also, no one has been able to solve it.
