Movie Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Terrible Flop or Incredibly Average Movie?

Movie Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Chandler Gravely, Staff writer

Mutated turtles turned ninjas that also happen to be teenagers. Can you really go wrong with that? Based on the show that most boys think is the best thing to happen since Power Rangers, this movie honestly falls flat of my childhood love for the cartoon.  Although it includes several well done action sequences and explosions (which as a guy greatly improved the movie’s esteem in my eyes) , it lacks much in the department of scripting and development of character and plot. A good 85 percent of the humor in this movie comes from face-palm situations and awkward moments not to mention that viewers should expect to see Megan Fox’s character take more of a central role than any turtles’ fan would like. Although her acting isn’t terrible, it for sure isn’t anything above average. Also, the back story that is created for dramatic effect steals moments that the turtles could be receiving more vital camera time. So overall, if you go to the movie theater to see TMNT and are expected to see an excellent movie you should pack your bags and just go watch Guardians of the Galaxy instead.
