High School League Moves Bishop England to 3A Next Year?

Big news for 2A sports. This Tuesday the South Carolina Administrators Association voted to make private and charter schools move up in their standing classes. The High School League will handle the rank changes. There has been an uproar throughout communities in South Carolina, especially in those that harbor A and AA schools who have to play competitors with recruiting abilities.

Christ Church in Greenville has won four A Division titles in a row and has set a state record with a 54 win streak. They also won the A Division Championship in girl’s basketball this year. St. Joseph’s has won 2 straight A baseball championships. Bishop England has won 3 of the last 4 Girl’s Basketball championships in AA. They have also claimed the title for 15 straight AA volleyball championships.

What does this mean for the Raptors?  It means that Bishop England will no longer be in our conference. It may make certain titles easier to attain.  But will we miss the competition from our biggest rival? Will we still have the opportunity to play their teams?

Many have asked for this change for years. However, Bishop England athletic director says the plan is “flawed.”  Those in favor of the change say “opponents feel the private schools have a recruiting advantage.”  Read more at
