At the center of this scheme is William Singer, who was the middle man for the wealthy parents trying to cheat their children into college.

If you really want your children to go to their dream school, push for individual excellence, not false intelligence. Apparently, nearly 50 of America’s extremely wealthy parents across six different states (some being celebrities) did not get this memo.

The illegal college admittance plot uncovered on March 12th is the biggest case ever prosecuted of its own kind. These 50 defendants are being accused by federal prosecutors of millions of dollars in illegally distributed and collected money, in addition to the connection between a large list of the nation’s best universities. Among those arrested are standardized test administrators (SAT/ACT), an exam proctor, a college director, 9 sports coaches from different renowned schools, and 33 parents.

The worst part about this whole thing is that the people who payed the money for bribes and illegal activity did so in the name of “charity”. The middle man and prime individual involved, William Singer, wanted to help these wealthy members of society, so he had a few ways to cheat these families’ kids into their dream colleges.

To give these kids a chance at being seriously considered by many of the elite schools named (Stanford, UCLA, USC, Cal Berkely, Yale, University of Texas, etc.), Singer aided in bribing people to take standardized tests for the kids trying to be admitted. This makes sense because the higher the scores on the SAT and ACT, the higher the likelihood that these colleges would have taken a real consideration into admitting them.

Parents who were willing to pay Singer large sums of money were able to receive help from a man named Mark Riddell who secretly completed the standardized tests for the students or replaced their initial answers with his own responses. Parents allegedly paid sums of nearly $15,000 and $75,000 per test to Singer as the middle man, according to the indictment. Singer has since pleaded guilty and admitted in court that these accusations are true.

With the help of individuals such as Igor Dvorskiy and Lisa Williams, Singer bribed these standardized test administrators into letting Riddell take the tests at their locations (one in Los Angeles and one in Houston). These individuals have been charged with conspiracy to commit racketeering.

In addition to bribing those for improved standardized tests, Singer was charged for accepting money to bribe different sports coaches. Some of the kids involved in this matter played no sports and were admitted on “athletic scholarship” due to illegally swaying coaches to accept them for this.

At the center of the case are Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, two celebrity actresses. And yes, it came to the heartbreak of many that Aunt Becky from Full House (Loughlin) had cheated, too.
