This year, students have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to four of Europe’s most tantalizing cities with Dr. Altman and Mr. McCormick: Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest. In these four cities, each with their own distinct culture and language, students will experience the best of what Eastern Europe has to offer.

Over the course of 10 days, students will see Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. Although the trip costs $3, 705 , this price is a bargain considering you will visit five countries in ten days. Visiting so many countries in just under two weeks would be a difficult task on an independent journey abroad. This tour is definitely a great opportunity.

Berlin, a picturesque example of Bauhaus and Classical Modernist architecture filled with a plethora of Europe’s best museums, monuments, lively shopping arcades, and intriguing cuisine such as currywurst, schnitzle, and bratwurst. In this vibrant and modern city, you will experience a rich history and culture which has witnessed the rising tide of communism, rule by the Hohenzollerns, and has 13th century origins. Visitors are sure to love Berlin.

Following Berlin, travelers will marvel in the splendor of Prague, one of the best preserved cities in Europe. Spared the devastating effects of the World Wars suffered by many cities in Europe, Prague’s historic architecture is pure eye candy for visitors. While Prague has become a tourist hotspot in recent years, the pesky large crowds won’t dampen your stay. Prague’s captivating sites such as Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and the Old Town will make you forget your problems and leave you wishing you could wander this enchanting city’s lanes forever.

Next, continue to immerse yourself in old world charm in exquisite Krakow! Famous for its Medieval city center and Jewish quarter, Krakow is a true cultural destination. Although Warsaw has long been the capital of Poland, Krakow remains the cultural and historical heart of the country. Your stay in Krakow is sure to be one to remember as you snack on pierogi and Polish sausage while exploring Wawel Castle, the main square, and St. Mary’s Basilica. Incorporated in the visit to Poland will be a moment for reflection and remembrance as you day trip to the nearby Auschwitz concentration camp.

Cap off your trip with an exciting visit to beautiful Budapest. Straddling the Danube River, Budapest is the crown jewel of Hungary. The quirky coffeehouse and cafe culture and abundance of relaxing thermal spas make this capital truly unique. As you explore such iconic city landmarks as Fisherman’s Bastion and the Parliament Building, you will learn about the fascinating history of Budapest, from Romans to Magyars to communist rule. While in Budapest you can also try interesting local dishes such as goulash and lángos. After an exhausting trip, you will definitely be thankful for your opportunity to visit and relax at the renown Széchenyi thermal baths!
