Food of the Week: Candy Canes!

Food+of+the+Week%3A+Candy+Canes%21

Candy Canes only come around for a few months out of the year during the Holiday Season. Last week, I went out and bought a pack of 36 candy canes in order to have enough to fuel my craving for Christmas Spirit! I bought so many because they are a very versatile sweet treat and can be used in many Christmas recipes. Here are a few of my favorite contraptions that utilize the deliciousness of candy canes:

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

This one is very easy! First, make your favorite brand of instant hot chocolate with water or milk. Use a handy candy cane to stir up this yummy drinkĀ and throw the cane in when you’re done, then you have some yummy peppermint hot chocolate!

Peppermint Marble Bark

All you will need for this simple recipe is milk chocolate, white chocolate, and candy canes. The first thing you do is melt the two types of chocolate separately. Then, pour the melted milk

chocolate onto a lined cookie sheet. Also pour small globs of white chocolate on top of the milk chocolate. Use a tooth pick to swirl the while chocolate into the milk chocolate to make a marble pattern.

Finally, sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top and refrigerate until hard. Crack into small squares and enjoy!

Candy Cane Puppy Cho

This recipe is slightly more involved. You will need:

  • 6 1/2 cups of chex cereal
  • 2 cups white chocolate
  • 12 candy canes

First, melt the white chocolate and mix with the chex cereal. Next, you will need to crush the candy canes. A blender works great for this because it crushes the canes very finely. Mix the crushed candy canes with the chocolate covered chex and cool in the refrigerator. Enjoy this yummy puppy chow. Disclaimer: Do not feed to pups because chocolate is not good for them.

These easy no bake holiday treats are great for getting into the christmas spirit. Make these on a rainy day and snack on them throughout the season. I hope you enjoy these three great recipes that use my favorite candy!
