Every year, authors from around the world flock to Charleston to participate in the annual YALLFest. The literature festival was created five years ago by Jonathan Sanchez, the owner of Blue Bicycle Books, as an opportunity for young readers to connect with their favorite authors. The festival mainly invites Young Adult and Middle Grade Literature authors and expects an annual turnout of over 4,000 fans and lovers of literature. The event took place last Saturday and Sunday, the 11th and 12th, and some of our very own Magnet students and librarian, Ms. Henley, were in attendance. Some highlighted authors included David Levithan, Lauren Oliver, and Veronica Roth, but over 70 authors were present speaking on panels and signing books. Overall, the weekend was a success and fans of Young Adult literature all over Charleston went home happy after a weekend of getting to interact with their favorite authors.
