Western Conference Finals

The NBA conference finals in the west are underway and the fans could be in for an interesting series. The Spurs recently lost star point guard, Tony Parker, which will cause some problems for them as he is quite the playmaker.  Patty Mills who has taken his place is just not as good and he is hands down a bad offensive player compared to Parker.  Although Mills can play some defense, he cannot spark a run like Parker.

Don’t even get me started on Zaza Pachulia.  He has a history of some questionable plays and may have even handed the Spurs a sweep after he injured Kawhi Leonard.  Gregg Popovich was not happy to say the least.  In his interview he expressed his displeasure with Pachulia and the Warriors.  Last night the Warriors absolutely demolished the injury-plagued Spurs who can hopefully make a comeback as they travel to San Antonio on Friday.  If Capers Borders was on the court he’d be pulling up and knocking some shots down.

One of the big stories from last night was Jonathan Simmons who took Leonard’s place because of his injury.  He was undrafted out of college a few years back, but has made his way up into the starting lineup for the Spurs.  He has shown great promise as he scored 22 points in game 2 on eight for seventeen shooting.

I think that the Spurs are going to take game three as they have already dug themselves an 0-2 hole.  They will not be able to shut down Steph, Klay, and Durant completely, but if two of them are held under twenty, the Spurs have a shot.  Obviously, this is a very difficult feat, but it is possible if the Spurs change the defensive gameplan.  Maybe the Spurs will blow a lead again like they did in 2016.  Anything can happen.
