For the past 12 years, Mr. Hoffman has taken Academic Magnet students up to Snowshoe, West Virginia.  In his final year at AMHS, Mr. Hoffman along with 40 Magnet students made the grueling 9 hour drive through South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia to an altitude of 4,848 feet.  According to snowshoemtn.com, the Snowshoe Basin ski area has 38 trails and a beloved waffle stand at the top of the mountain.  During the Magnet trip, the weather was generally warm; on the first day, it was sunny and about 59 fahrenheit and the second day was slightly foggy with a high of 45.  All in all, experienced and new skiiers (and a few snowboarders) had a great time.
