We all know about the great sports teams at Magnet, but do we really know the players? We interviewed athletes from each of the major fall sports teams to get to know them and their teams better.

 

Volleyball

Gabi Rauls, senior

Q:What are you most excited about for this season?

A: This is my final season and we’re like a big family so it’s going to be really exciting.

Q: How long have you been on the team?

A: Three years.

Q: What are your predictions for this year?

A: I think that the easiest match will be  against North Charleston or Math and Science, and the hardest one will be against either Summerville or Hanahan.

Q: What do you think about the new players?

A: We love the new players. We have one freshman, one sophomore and two juniors; we think they are going to become really good players.

Q: What is another interesting fact about you?

A: I have lived in five different states (or maybe only four).

 

Football

Potter Seibels, senior

Q: What are you most excited about for this season?

A: All of the new players that have joined. This year we have the biggest team yet.

Q: How long have you been on the team?

A: Four years.

Q: What are your predictions for this year?

A: I think that the game against B.E. will be the hardest and that the game against Burke will be the easiest.

Q: What do you think about the new players?

A: They will fill in the positions we lost when the graduating seniors left.

Q: What is another interesting fact about you?

A: I’m president of the Beach Volleyball Club.

Steven Schlosser

Q: What are you most excited about for this season?

A: I am most excited to try to make it to the playoffs this year.

Q: How long have you been on the team?

A: Since last year, but I have been playing for 11 years. 

Q: What are your predictions for this year?

A: I think our hardest game will be against BE and the easiest game has already happened; the game against Ocean Side.

Q: What do you think about the new players?

A: I think they’re going to be a great help to the team.

Q: What is another interesting fact about you?

A: I really like to play the piano. I have being playing it for nine years.

 

Cheerleading

Danielle Colbrunn, senior

Q: What are you most excited about for this season?

A: I am excited to bond more with my team and promote school spirit.

Q: How long have you been on the team?

A: Two years and I’m the captain this year.

Q: What are your predictions for this year?

A: I predict that we will be very strong competition against the other cheer teams in our division. Our routine is very unique and I think it will provide us with a competitive edge.

Q: What do you think about the new cheerleaders?

A: They are very enthusiastic, sweet, and not afraid to work hard.

Q: What is another interesting fact about you?

A: I am the only cheerleader at Magnet who also plays softball!

 

Swimming

Grace Beischel

Q: What are you most excited about for this season?

A: Being a senior on the team.

Q: How long have you been on the team?

A: Since freshmen year.

Q: What are your predictions for this year?

A: I think the state meet will be difficult because we are competing against so many people, and I think that the hardest dual meet will be against Wando.

Q: What do you think about the new players?

A:I think they are fine.

Q: What is another interesting fact about you?

A: I have been swimming since I was seven.

Garrett Smith, senior

Q: What are you most excited about for this season?

A: I’m most excited for the Ripley’s invitational.

Q: How long have you been on the team?

A: Four years.

Q: What are your predictions for this year?

A: I think that the meet against Wando will probably be the hardest.

Q: What do you think about the new players?

A: I like them all a lot. One of the freshmen, Charles Blane, is really, really good, so that’s great.

Q: What is another interesting fact about you?

A: My favorite cereal is Tiny Toast!
